The Sanibel Captiva Lions Club inducted new member, Don Korn, during its recent lunch meeting at George and Wendy’s Corner Grill. Membership in a Lions club is by invitation.

“We worked together and are neighbors”, said sponsoring Lion, Tom Krekel. ” I talked to Don about becoming a member, so he came to a meeting and enjoyed himself”.

Lions are civic-minded men and women who are hands-on in making a difference in their community. It is the largest and most active service organization worldwide, with more than 1.4.million Lions dedicated to helping those in need.

The Sanibel Captiva Lions are collecting eyeglasses in special Recycle for Sight boxes located at various businesses throughout the community. The club recently held a health screening free-of-charge at the Center For Life and are currently selling Christmas trees at 2431 Periwinkle Way, near Bailey ‘s shopping center.

“Our club gives members an opportunity to advance worthy causes, serve with friends and become an integral part of our community,” said Lions Club President Debi Almeida. “It is a privilege to become a member because it is a medium through which we serve our fellow man.”

The Sanibel Captiva Lions Club has 56 members and meets on the first and third Wednesdays. Visiting Lions are always welcome. For more information, or to get involved, visit ssanibelcaptivalions.org.
