Lions collect prescription eyeglasses and prescription and non-prescription sunglasses as part of a unique recycling program.
The collected glasses will be cleaned and prepared for distribution in developing countries where eye care is often unaffordable and inaccessible. In these countries, an eye exam can cost a month’s wages and there often is only one eye doctor for hundreds of thousands of people.
The donated eyeglasses will be shipped to a regional Lions Eyeglass Recycling Center where they will be cleaned, sorted by prescription and prepared for distribution to those who need them.
Lion Ken Williams has placed Recycle-for-Sight collection boxes in the following locations:
