Annual Christmas Tree Sale Starts Nov 30th

Trees ready for sale at Island Cinema

The day after Thanksgiving marks a Sanibel-Captiva Lions Club holiday tradition – their annual Christmas Tree Fundraiser. The area next to Island Cinema at Bailey’s Shopping Center, 2477 Periwinkle Way, will turn into a wonderland of over 200 premium Frasier Firs freshly cut and shipped from Michigan.

Trees are available for purchase Wednesday through Sunday each week, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. They will remain on sale through Sunday December 22nd or until supply runs out. The trees, grown in Michigan, are between 5 and 10 feet in height. Rick Wagner, organizer of the sale, said, “We are fortunate to have a wonderful source of full, healthy and long lasting premium trees. Last year our trees arrived with snow still on them. Our customers return year after year due to the quality of our trees.”

The islands’ Lions Club began selling fresh trees more than 40 years ago. It has since grown to become one of the Club’s largest fund-raising events. As Sanibel Captiva Lions Club President Bill Sartoris says, “The entire club pitches in, from set up to selling, which ensures 100 percent of our earnings goes directly to the charitable work of the Lions Club.” The Lions welcome anyone who would like to help with this fundraiser – if you’d like to volunteer, please contact Rick at ‭(863) 272-7713‬.

The Lions thank Richard Johnson and Bailey’s for providing space for the sale and continued support of the club. A special thanks to the SCCF Hammerheads for assisting with the site setup.

Sanibel Captiva Lions meet the first and third Wednesday of the month with a guest speaker once a month at the Sanibel Community House. Meetings begin with cocktails and appetizers at 6 p.m. and dinner at 7 p.m. Visiting Lions and anyone interested in becoming a Lion are always welcome.
