The adult screenings consist of:
1. Blood pressure check
2. Blood glucose
3. Peripheral visual fields check using the Zeiss Humphrey FDT
4. Determination of the intraocular pressure of the eyes by delivering an air puff to the eye. We use the Reichert AT 550 auto non-contact tonometer.
5. Macular degeneration screening.
6.. Hearing test using the ERO-SCAN or an audiometer.
The glucose screeners are all certified by the Lions Diabetes Foundation of Multiple District 35 and are under the supervision of a physician.
Last year the Sanibel-Captiva Lions Club screened 143 adults and 55 children.
The Children’s preschool screenings will be done in April and May.
