Sanibel Captiva Lions Club Donates Food for FISH Holiday Baskets

Lion Bill Sartoris; Maria Espinoza, Assistant Executive Director of FISH; Steve Shculz, President of the Sanibel Captiva Lions Club.

In response to FISH’s request for food for their Holiday Baskets, the Sanibel Captiva Lions Club delivered 240 cans of vegetables and 120 boxes of pasta to assist in providing for healthful meals for FISH’s clients.  The Lions Club thanks Bailey’s General Store for allowing them to purchase the food at cost.  This spirit of cooperation of local businesses and not-for-profit organizations is one of the things that makes Sanibel such a special place.  The Lions are pleased to be able to play our part in continued service to the community.

The Sanibel Captiva Lions Club has been serving the Sanibel and Captiva Communities for over 50 years.  While the Lions Club is most known for their effort to eliminate preventable blindness, the club serves citizens of the Islands and greater Southwest Florida in a variety of ways.  The local club is part of Lions Club International, the largest service organization in the world with over 1.4 million members in chapters in over 200 countries.

Sanibel Captiva Lions Club’s regular meetings are being held by Zoom during the pandemic.  Once back to a regular schedule, the dinner meetings will be on the first and third Wednesday of the month. Visiting Lions or other interested people are welcome to attend.
