Sanibel Community House Gala Lead Sponsor

Sanibel Captiva Lions Club President Bob Kern presents Community House Executive Director Teresa Riska-Hall with a check to be lead sponsor of the “1927 Gala” red-carpet event.

The Sanibel Captiva Lions Club is a lead sponsor of the Sanibel Community House “1927 Gala” red-carpet event to be held at 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25 at the Community House, 2173 Periwinkle Way.

The evening celebrates 90-plus years of the Community House’s presence on Sanibel Island. Guests will enjoy top-notch food, drink and music as well as a live auction featuring fantastic items donated the local business community.

“The Community House is a true treasure on the island and we are honored to participate in this year’s gala,” said Sanibel Captiva Lions President Bob Kern.

The “1927 Gala” will also feature surprise historical characters from the island’s past interacting with guests. Mariel and Porter Goss are serving as Honorary Chairs for this inaugural event. The newly-renovated Community House has been the heartbeat of the island since its founding in 1927 and serves as a gathering place for island businesses, civic associations and non-profits.

The Lions Club was chartered in December 1967 at the Community House, where it continues to meet the first and third Wednesdays of each month. There is a guest speaker at the first meeting of the month and dinner is prepared by Sanibel Catering Co. by Bailey’s. Lions gather at 6 p.m. for social hour and the meetings begin at 7 p.m.

“We are grateful to have the Lions join our lead sponsors for our first gala event,” said Community House Executive Director Teresa Riska-Hall. “It will be a night to remember.”

Proceeds from the gala will defray additional expenses associated with the recent renovation. To learn more, call the Community House at 239-472-2155 or visit sanibelcommunityhouse.net.
