What Do Lions Really Do?
The Lions Club offers people just like you the opportunity to give something back to their community, from being involved in projects as local as cleaning up an area park or working to bring sight to the world’s blind.
Recycle for Sight is one of our local projects, while others are shown on our Contributions page.
Service to people who are visually impaired or totally blind has always been one of our most significant programs. For example, Lions operate the vast majority of eye banks throughout the world with three right here in Florida.
Yes, we are an all volunteer organization under an International Association of over 1,309,600 members, where we enjoy fellowship with other Lions, plus developing our skills and service capabilities. Last year Lions contributed over $600 million to charities and over 30 million hours of volunteer service. We are dedicated to helping those in need while trying to make our individual community a better place to live.

Each March we hold the Arts & Crafts Fair at the Sanibel Community Center. This juried show brings over 100 artists and artisans from around the world to display their creations. The Fair also includes over 100 Silent Auction items and exciting Raffle items with many outstanding artworks and sculptures in addition to services, restaurant certificates and vacations.
Each December we sell Christmas Trees in the parking lot at Bailey’s General Store, starting the weekend after Thanksgiving and continuing until Christmas Eve. These trees are fresh cut Fraser Firs from the Carolinas and we also have wreaths and tree stands. Delivery is available.
