Recycle for Sight Collection Up for September

Make your eyeglass donation in one of our specially-marked boxes.

The Sanibel Captiva Lions Club reports a strong collection of eyeglasses in September, as part of its Recycle for Sight Program. The month exceeded July and a slow August with a total of 338 items collected.

We are very pleased with the number and thank our community for stepping up in this cause,” said Lion Rick Wagner. “Many people in need benefit from the used eyeglasses, cases and hearing aids collected. Sight is undoubtedly one of the Lions defining causes and this is a part of our work.”

There were 253 clear and dark glasses collected in September, along with 75 eyeglass cases. Donations can be made in the specially-marked Lions Recycle for Sight collection boxes at the following businesses:

Sanibel – Ace Hardware, Bank of the Islands, Bailey’s General Store, Island Pharmacy, Sanibel Captiva Community Bank on Library Way and Periwinkle, Sanibel Community Church, Sanibel Library, Sanibel Eyecare, Senior Center – Center for Life.
