Lions Hosting 31st Annual Feather Bingo for Charity

The Sanibel Captiva Lions Club will be hosting Feather Bingo for Charity at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, at the Community House, 2173 Periwinkle Way, Sanibel. A turkey dinner with all the trimmings will be served and there will be numerous games and prizes throughout the evening.

“Feather Bingo, now it its 31st year, has always been a good time with good food for a worthy cause,” said Lion Hazella Viellette, who has organized this year’s event. “Guests are invited to join us for the only Bingo night on the island.”

Guest entrance fee is $20, which includes dinner and fun. Feather Bingo cards and games are sold separately. Guests should contact their neighbor Lion for an invitation. There’s a mystery caller who will keep the evening entertaining, a cash bar and a total of $400 in prizes up for grabs.

The Lions Club offers the opportunity to actively make a difference in the community, from hosting complimentary adult health screenings to collecting used eyeglasses through its specially designated Recycle for Sight boxes located at various locations on both islands. Lions are known to volunteer for many things, from club projects to community events.

“We serve where we live, as well as globally through Lions Club International, and have fun doing it,” said Lion Hazella. “Wonderful things are accomplished when you are part of the largest service organization and a generous community.”

Sanibel Captiva Lions meet the first and third Wednesday of the month with a different guest speaker once a month at the Sanibel Community House. Meetings begin with cocktails and appetizers at 6 p.m. and dinner at 7 p.m. Visiting Lions and anyone interested in becoming a Lion are always welcome.
