Each year the Sanibel Captiva Lions Club funds up to five individual scholarships to assist eligible high school graduates to obtain their undergraduate college degrees. These one and two thousand dollar scholarships are in addition to the ten thousand dollars donated annually to Edison State College to assist handicapped students.
Applicants for these individual scholarships must currently be high school seniors or high school graduates, currently enrolled as full time students in an accredited college, university, vocational or technical school. The program is open to all qualified students regardless of race, gender, creed or color. These scholarships are renewable for up to four years.
The Lions Club Scholarship Committee considers family income, visual impairment or other physical handicap, county of residence, scholastic record, activities and recommendations as guidelines for awarding scholarships.
